Attention Veterans: Starting October 1, 2025, the Central Virginia VA Health Care System will be discontinuing contracted hired car services for ambulatory Veterans.
We will still offer special mode transportation, such as wheelchair vans and ambulance services, for those who meet medical justification.
Veterans eligible for travel reimbursement will need to arrange their own travel to and from CVHCS and submit expenses through the Beneficiary Travel Self-Service System for qualifying visits.
Mileage reimbursement is available for travel from your home to the nearest facility capable of providing the required care.
You can also be reimbursed for ride-share services by submitting a receipt with your claim. This change is part of a network-wide directive.
For more details, or if you have questions, please contact the Beneficiary Travel department at (804) 675-5000 ext. 5803.
